Summary

The Fast Insitu Stratospheric Hygrometer (FISH) of Forschungszentrum Jülich is based on the Lyman-alpha photofragment fluorescence technique. The instrument is used for almost two decades from balloons and various aircraft, including the Geophysica, the DLR Falcon and the German Learjet for high-precision measurements of water vapour in the UTLS. The instrument is compared to other insitu and remote sensing instruments in atmospheric and laborator experiments.
