Summary
The ISOWAT instrument is a new development, which is based on the technique of tuneable diode-laser spectroscopy. The sample air is drawn into an absorption cell, and the absorption of laser radiation due to the water molecules is detected. Using a H2O calibration standard of known isotopic composition, the isotopic ratios within the atmospheric air sample can be determined.
